NACDA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CPS DEFENSE ATTORNEYS
New Member Information
PURPOSE
NACDA is intended to become the professional organization for CPS defense attorneys in the United States who represent adults.
Attorneys are welcome to join if they have a significant practice in CPS defense for adults, and are committed to challenging the overwhelming power of HHS and State CPS agencies.
Our goal is to represent adults pro-actively; not simply react to CPS excesses.
We plan to develop both membership and educational sections.
MEMBERSHIP
Since CPS defense is largely state-specific, we have or will have State Coordinators in each state. For some larger states, there will be regional divisions.
State Coordinators are asked to get good members, and ensure that contact information is correct.
They are also asked to check into neighboring states that have shortfalls in membership.
A database of members is maintained by the Database Coordinator, currently Atty. Michael H. Agranoff, of Ellington, CT. EM: attymikea@agranofflaw.com.
The current database is available to all members. Just send an e-mail to Mike Agranoff requesting it.
Members should review the data base, and provide notice of any errors.
All members are also on the NACDA listserve. The listserve administrator is currently Atty. Michael Cronkright, of Lansing, MI. EM: Cronkright@kroncron.com.
The listserve is: nacda-list@nacda-listserv.com
Listserve questions may be sent to: nacda-list-owner@nacda-listserv.com.
SECTIONS
NACDA is intended to be more than a listserv. It will establish sections, to help organize knowledge for specific areas of interest in CPS defense. These may include, but are not limited to:
Civil Rights
Psychological Evaluations
Interstate Compacts
Medical Considerations
Jury Trials
Discovery Practices
RAD
HHS Lobbying
ADA Issues and Disability
Public Education (which may include the development of a web site)
Reinstating Parental Rights
Trial Practice
ICWA
Sections will be built up gradually. We are gathering Section Leaders to put out initial calls, assemble information, and eventually produce Practice Tips for members.
We intend to keep ahead of the curve. Knowledge must be organized, not hit-or-miss.
Section information is also included on the database.
It is up to members to make this happen.
IN SUMMARY
NACDA is intended to be a meaningful national organization of CPS defense attorneys. We will develop a presence in State Legislatures and at HHS. We will help to educate each other in an organized manner.
Presently, we are an affiliation of attorneys. We hope to incorporate as a non-profit shortly.
We do not intend to merely react to CPS. We wish to be as pro-active as are other attorney groups in the country.
We are starting. Improvements will be made. It takes years to build an organization, and we are decades behind CPS. However, we will get there.
We need you!! Every CPS defense attorney agrees that this is important work, but there are always time constraints. If everyone pitches in, the work will be manageable. Please do not depend on other people; YOUR INVOLVEMENT IS NEEDED TO MAKE IT WORK.
